United States: the world's largest sending country

More remittances leave the United States than any other country. The corridors to Mexico, India and the Philippines alone move well over $100 billion a year, and a new 1% federal tax on cash-funded transfers took effect in January 2026.

These guides cover what a transfer costs, how FedNow and RTP are changing domestic payments, and how the GENIUS Act set the rules for USDC, USDT and other dollar stablecoins.
